: A container truck plunged into the Harabhangi dam and reservoir in Odisha’s Gajapati district, though the driver managed to escape unharmed, a source said Thursday.

The incident occurred near Adapanka village under Adava police station limits, while the truck was travelling from Rayagada to Berhampur Wednesday. Driver Sanjeev Yadav told police he lost control while giving way to an oncoming car, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and sink into the reservoir.

Adava police and Fire Services personnel from Mohana rushed to the spot. They launched rescue operations, but officials said the effort was hampered by the dam’s water level, which is over 50 feet deep.
