HOUSTON — A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized Tuesday evening after being shot by his mother during a family dispute, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

Capt. Juan Flores said deputies were sent a little before 5:30 p.m. to a home on Ranch Oak Drive near Hardy Street following reports of a disturbance involving family members. While units were on the way, another call reported possible gunfire with someone being struck.

“Our investigation thus far has concluded that two family members were involved in a disturbance,” Flores said. “It is going to be a mother and a 13-year-old son. During the altercation, the mom did produce a weapon and she did fire a round, striking her son.”

The boy was rushed to a local hospital.
