AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - For the third day in a row, black bears have been seen in the CSRA.
The latest sighting was Thursday morning near Warrenville Elementary School in Aiken County. Aiken County Public Schools sent out an email about it.
Then by 10 a.m., a bear was reported at Gloverville Elementary, News 12 learned in an unconfirmed report.
Bear mania seems to have taken hold of the region, which isn’t home to a year-round bear population and where sightings are rare.
Thursday’s sightings come a day after a black bear was spotted in North Augusta in the Austin Graybill Road area.
Officers with the North Augusta Department of Public Safety say they received calls Wednesday about a black bear off Exit 5 near Interstate 20.
Officers say they were not able to locate the bear.
