June is in Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut, Eleanor the Great , about a 90-year old woman who a) befriends a 19-year old girl who is fascinated by her story, and b) is a liar whose story is not her own, but actually that of her late friend Bessie, who survived Hitler. Rolling Stone called “a biddy comedy,” and The Daily Beast , an “utterly bizarre Holocaust memorial drama.” What a cocktail. The only thing everyone seems to agree on is that June Squibb rules, which I will shout from the rooftops with them (justice for Thelma !). Anyway, June here — who is 95! — looks amazing in a gorgeous coat. Scarlett Johansson also looks super, but she should listen to June on the value of a good shoe and properly hemmed pants. One cannot replace the wisdom of one’s elders.
