Emphasising the need for India to reduce dependence on foreign goods, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the people of the country to embrace swadeshi for an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, asking citizens to make the most of the ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ to increase consumption.
He called on shopkeepers in Banswara in Rajasthan to sell swadeshi items and urged citizens to prioritize buying locally made goods.

Talking about GST, he recalled that in 2017, the BJP Government implemented it, simplifying taxes and reducing tolls. From the first day of Navratri this year,
NextGenGST has come into effect, leading to savings. “All items have now become cheaper.”
