The Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Thursday nominated Nongthymmai MDC Winston Tony Lyngdoh as the new chief executive member (CEM) designate of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

The unanimous decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the VPP chief Ardent Basaiawmoit and attended by all MDCs of the party.

“Following Shemborlang Rynjah’s decision to step down as KHADC chief due to health concerns, the party has nominated Winston Tony Lyngdoh, MDC from Nongthymmai, as the new CEM designate,” Basaiawmoit told reporter after the meeting.

He also announced that Jaiaw MDC Denzil Raynard Chen will be inducted as the new Executive Member.

Basaiawmoit explained that the party decided not to appoint deputy CEMs, as it would not ensure stability in the Council.
