BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced on Thursday morning, Sept. 25, that a portion of the roadway on I-10 would be blocked off for emergency work.

The closure, which is expected to last from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., affects the left and middle lanes of I-10 eastbound between Terrace Avenue and City Park Lake in Baton Rouge. Additionally, the on-ramp from Braddock Street to I-10 eastbound is also closed.

According to officials, this closure is necessary for crews to temporarily patch a damaged section of the roadway with asphalt until it can be permanently repaired with concrete.

Heavier than normal delays are expected in the Baton Rouge area. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
