The northernmost detection of New World screwworm in Mexico was found in Sabinas Hidalgo, just 70 miles from the U.S. border. It is near the major highway from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, to Laredo, Texas, that is one of the most heavily trafficked commercial thoroughfares in the world.
