A 20-year-old man from Morrisburg is facing three charges following a police investigation into a complaint from a Ninth Street East business.

Police alleged the man removed merchandise from the store on July 28 without paying for it, then assaulted and threatened the store’s loss-prevention officer. A warrant was later issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody by OPP as part of an unrelated investigation on Wednesday, and later transferred to Cornwall police custody.

The man was charged with robbery with violence; assault; and, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on Oct. 30.
