COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Two weeks after a deadly hit-and-run crash occurred in Columbia, authorities announced someone had been taken into custody.
The Columbia Police Department said it responded to reports of a pedestrian found along Tom Hitch Parkway, near River Highlands Apartments, shortly before 5 a.m. on Sept. 11. When officers arrived, they found 63-year-old Teresa Nelson dead at the scene.
According to law enforcement, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene, leaving Nelson in the roadway.
Officials previously said Nelson was last seen at her home around 4:30 a.m. and emergency services were notified about the incident at approximately 4:50 a.m., "establishing a narrow timeline of events leading up to the fatal collision."
