CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) are partnering to restore the Watauga Reservoir fish habitat after Helene damage.
Tropical Storm Helene, the remnants of Hurricane Helene, swept across the East Tennessee on Sept. 27, 2024. The storm saw the destruction of existing underwater fish habitats in Watauga Reservoir. As the one-year anniversary of the storm approaches, lots of progress has been made in the restoration of Watauga Reservoir.
Using funding provided by TVA Public Land Management, TWRA will install at least 75 habitat structures within the reservoir. The initiative will provide long-term habitats for a variety of fish species, contributing to the ecological health and sustainability of Watauga Reser
