The Dodgers bullpen is still very much in scramble mode, and blew their third straight lead in the eighth inning or later on Wednesday night in Arizona. But this time they lived to tell about it, surviving in an 11-inning win over the Diamondbacks.

The win provided a blueprint of sorts for how things might go in October, with various pitchers in different roles than they might be used to.

First off, Roki Sasaki’s first major league relief outing was a revelation, a glimpse of his eye-popping stuff that made so many around baseball mad that the Dodgers were able to sign him in January. Unlike the bulk of his eight starts earlier in the year, Sasaki had great command and was on the attack on Wednesday, keeping hitters off balance in a perfect seventh inning with a pair of strikeouts.
