GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - Heavy rainfall across our region today especially hitting parts of Ohio and Kentucky.
Diedrich Boulevard near Russell has been closed due to a massive amount of high water on the roadway.
Two cars were almost entirely submerged in the water.
Garth Wireman, Greenup County Emergency Management Director, urged drivers not to take any chances.
“It’s important that whenever there’s water over the roadway to just avoid it and not drive through it,” Wireman said. “We respond to a lot of scenes and accidents where people try to drive through the flooded roadways, and we have to end up doing water rescues.”
Emergency officials also warned drivers to be careful on the slick roads as well.
