Critical fire weather conditions are expected today due to gusty winds and very dry conditions across much of central and eastern Washington. Not only will fire danger rise significantly, but smoke and air quality issues will become more prevalent throughout the day too.

Fire conditions will ramp up activity on existing fires and create more smoke
Smoke from the Labor Mountain and Lower Sugarloaf fires near Wenatchee will bring extra smoke into the air this evening from Moses Lake to Spokane
Smoke will end up around the Palouse region late tonight
It will be 10+ degrees cooler on Friday with lingering smoke
Rain coming next week will hopefully make this the last fire weather day for a while
