DENVER (KDVR) -- The Colorado Department of Transportation said drivers should expect heavy leaf-peeping traffic along the Interstate 70 Mountain Corridor this weekend.
CDOT said Thursday that drivers should expect heavy traffic heading westbound on Interstate 70 during the late morning through early afternoon and eastbound I-70 from the late morning "well into the evening."
The agency is also advising drivers to anticipate "extreme congestion" along US Highway 285 — especially between South Park and Denver — as people head to Kenosha Pass.
Drivers should leave early or late in the day to avoid the worst congestion and be cautious when seeking alternate routes, with local roads like Guanella Pass unable to accommodate interstate-level traffic, CDOT said.
