CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -- A portion of Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston is shut down Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer struck a telephone pole, knocking down several wires.

The stretch between Rutledge Avenue and Smith Street closed to westbound traffic around 12:45 p.m., according to the Charleston Police Department.

Crews are currently on scene. There are no reported power outages.
