Where there is smoke, there are sometimes charges.

Provincial police charged a B.C. resident with impaired driving and drug possession after an officer noticed smoke coming from the vehicle near Brockville on Wednesday.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police’s Highway Safety Division noticed a transport truck “emitting an excessive amount of smoke” on Highway 401 near Brockville, police said Thursday.

“The vehicle was stopped, and suspected drugs were observed inside the cabin.”

The officer called in colleagues from the OPP’s Leeds County detachment, including a drug recognition expert, as well as officers from the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO). Officers seized approximately 300 to 400 capsules containing suspected drugs.
