LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Meridian Township is scheduled to begin its annual Deer Management Program on October 1, coinciding with the start of archery season.

The township reports that the program has reduced deer-car collisions by 49% since its inception in 2011.

7,468 pounds of harvest venison were donated to 14 local food banks as part of the program during the 2024-2025 season. More than 35,000 pounds of venison have been donated since 2020.
