GRAND FORKS – Gov. Kelly Armstrong said he has candidates in mind as replacements for State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler in light of her nomination to the federal Department of Education.

Baesler was nominated in February to be the assistant secretary of elementary and secondary education and is currently awaiting Senate confirmation to officially take her position. As soon as the nomination is confirmed, Armstrong will appoint Baesler’s replacement.

“We want to be able to hit the ground running and I think we'll be able to name a replacement within days after she's eventually confirmed,” Armstrong said.
