PHOENIX — Arizona teachers are getting a big boost. The Wishes for Teachers program is back with a record $1.5 million in classroom grants for local educators.

Up to 540 educators will each get $2,500 to fund projects like robotics kits, books and more.

12News stopped by Cactus View Elementary School to see how one recipient of the program from last year is benefiting.

Julie Voeller, a third grade teacher of 13 years, teaches 29 8-year-old students. She says the program helped her provide what she needs to provide an effective learning experience.

"I cannot say enough for what this program did for me," Voeller said. "It benefited last year's kids, and it's benefiting this year's kids. I was able to buy supplies for my classroom, robots for my classroom, books for my students and their
