At a special Sept. 23 meeting, the Stevensville Town Council barely approved their 2025-2026 final budget in a 3-2 vote. Mayor Bob Michalson broke the tie after town councilors Cindy Brown and Wallace Smith voted not to approve the budget.

The budget, as of Sept. 24, lists total town appropriations as $5,118,626 and a total revenue of $4,747,434. The budget listed town resources at $8,578,163 and the mills at 95.17.

The budget, reviewed and approved at the Sept. 23 town council meeting, contained different numbers because it did not account for a $3,000 expenditure for firefighter EMS training that the council unanimously voted to add.

After voting on the budget for a second time, Brown and Smith voiced concerns over certain numbers included in the Sept. 23 agenda packet.
