PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WJW) – A Willoughby man has been sentenced to prison in connection with a fatal drug overdose in 2023.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in November of 2023, a man overdosed at a Goodwill store in Painesville Township. Deputies found evidence of drug use at the scene, the sheriff’s office reported.

The man’s autopsy showed high levels of fentanyl and norfentanyl in his system, according to the sheriff’s office.

Following an investigation, Christopher Williams, 31, of Willoughby was arrested in November of 2024.

Williams was convicted in July 2025 on charges including involuntary manslaughter and trafficking in heroin.
