Richland Library is inviting the community to celebrate family traditions and storytelling through quilting at its upcoming AiR Presents: Story Quilt Workshop event.
Free to the public and open to all ages, the workshop will be held at Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly St. in Columbia, this Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring in a family quilt and share the stories stitched into its fabric during the workshop so library staff and artists-in-residence can assist them in documenting the history and meaning behind their quilt in order to preserve its legacy for future generations.
Guests will also have an opportunity to create their own quilt block which can be contributed to a larger community quilt or taken home as a personal keepsake.
