Patrons of Loveland’s Rialto Theater who may feel out of the loop due to hearing impairment now have a way to get back in it. Last month, theater management installed an innovative audio loop system that uses copper wire to enhance the sound experience for hearing aid users.

“A lot of times, what people experience with hearing loss is clarity versus just volume,” said Phil Baugh, the Rialto’s technical audio coordinator. “What they can hear is just a wash of nonsense, so even with a louder show, having the ability to give people a more direct feed of everything that’s happening on stage — all the vocal microphones, especially — that’s where a listen assist system really comes into play.”
