AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Ironman 70.3 triathlon returns to Augusta on Sunday, and it will bring some traffic impacts for local drivers.
The triathlon begins at 7 a.m., but traffic will be affected from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The triathlon will begin with a 1.2-mile swim from the Sharon Jones Amphitheater in North Augusta to the Fifth Street Marina in downtown Augusta.
3 new bear sightings reported near Aiken County schools
The latest sighting was Thursday morning near Warrenville Elementary School in Aiken County. Aiken County Public Schools sent out an email about it.
From there, the athletes will transition to the 56-mile cycling leg that will wind through south Augusta.
The athletes will return to the transition area at Fifth Street Depot to begin the 13.1-mile run leg of the race
