BOARDMAN Boardman High School's courtyard is getting a big life thanks to a donation from some alumni.

The Boardman High School Class of 1975, who recently celebrated their 50th reunion, donated $2,000 to purchase new patio umbrellas for the courtyard adjacent to the school's cafeteria.

The courtyard currently features hardwood benches and picnic tables built by Boardman High School's woodshop students. Students often use the space to eat lunch, study or gather with friends.

Boardman High School Principal Dr. Mark Cura says the addition of these umbrellas will provide comfort and shade for students when they use it.

"We hope to have them in place this fall, and they'll be ready to welcome students again in the spring for sure," Zura said.
