A motorcyclist was killed after he collided with a pickup truck and was ejected on Sunrise Highway in Islip Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Around 8:40 p.m., the man was operating an eastbound 2007 Honda motorcycle in the right lane of Sunrise Highway between Exits 45 and 46 when he steered into the center lane. The motorcycle struck the rear of a 2015 Ford F-240 pickup truck and the man was ejected, police said.

The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The 63-year-old driver of the Ford was not injured. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.

Eastbound lanes were closed around 9 p.m. and reopened by 1:05 a.m., police said.
