McKEE, Ky. — Ground was broken on the new Jackson County Food Pantry. The new pantry is being built on the same site as the current pantry on McCammon Ridge Road in McKee.
“The new pantry building will allow us to have more space, provide additional services, operate more efficiently, and offer both a shopping experience for participants and a drive-thru option,” said Carolyn Lindsey, director of Christian Appalachian Project’s human services programming in Rockcastle, Jackson, and McCreary Counties.
Joyce Marks led the pantry for almost 40 years, offering Jackson County residents kindness, compassion, and tireless energy daily. She died in January, but CAP has worked to make sure her vision continued. The pantry has two full-time employees and plans are in place for new, expanded facili
