A girl, 10, stood her ground Thursday when a defence lawyer at a murder trial challenged her testimony around an attack that badly injured her when she was seven.
Steve Gehl represents Dylon Moreira, accused of killing Vanessa Legate, 41, stabbing the girl, and stabbing his mother, Diana Moreira, 51.
It happened inside a Kitchener home in November 2022. Legate was Moreira’s girlfriend.
Gehl put to the girl that she never saw Moreira grab Legate by the throat, and never heard Moreira yell “you’re all dead!”
“I don’t agree,” the girl said.
He put to her that Moreira never choked the girl, squeezed her throat, spun her around or threw her to the ground.
