NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Merriweather Elementary bus driver was pulled over on Interstate 20 in Aiken County so authorities could conduct a sobriety check, according to officials.

The driver was taken into custody, according to a message the Edgefield County School District sent to parents.

It happened as students in several buses were returning from a field trip.

News 12 was told in an unconfirmed report that the kids had gone to Eudora Farms wildlife park.

The bus was stopped around 2 p.m. near Edgefield Road.
