WEBSTER CO., Ky. (WFIE) - A Tri-State war hero killed in action in over 80 years ago is returning home for a memorial to honor his sacrifice.

Staff Sergeant “J. Z.” Shelton, of Sebree, was killed while fighting in Germany in 1944.

His remains have been identified and returned to his family in Webster County.

Junior, as he was best known, earned several military honors during his service, including a Purple Heart.

A funeral with full military rites will be held next Saturday, October 4, at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Sebree.
