The AFL grand final is set to be — once again — played away from the MCG.

The last time that happened was during the pandemic with the 2020 and 2021 grand finals played at the Gabba in Queensland and Optus Stadium in Perth respectively.

Now, AFL boss Andrew Dillon has revealed that the big game will, most likely, need to be moved while the MCG receives a major redevelopment (and a boost to the ground’s 100,024-seat capacity).

The MCC and the MCG Trust are conducting a $15 million business case into the redevelopment with the Victorian Government contributing $5 million to the study.
