FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — Police are investigating a homicide after human remains were found in a Fort Washington park over the summer.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department, homicide detectives found the Piscataway Stream Valley Park on July 23.

Officers were assisting Montgomery County Police with a missing person investigation when the remains were found. They were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and confirmed to be human. The cause of death has since been ruled a homicide, but no additional details have been released regarding how the person died.

The person killed has not been identified, and investigators continue to search for a suspect and motive.
