Sara Jane Moore , the woman who tried to assassinate President Ford in 1975, has died at 95.

Her death on Wednesday came two days after the 50th anniversary of her attempt on the 38th president’s life outside of a San Francisco hotel. She died at Tennessee nursing facility , according to the Nashville Banner.

Moore squeezed off a single shot from a .38 caliber pistol before being neutralized by former Marine Oliver W. Sippel, whom Ford thanked in a letter for acting “without fear” for his own well-being.

Moore, who lived in California at the time, was sentenced to life in prison but released on parole in 2007. She later relocated to the Nashville area and spent her final few years in rehabilitation facilities after suffering a fall.
