Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness report that 9-1-1 phone lines have been restored and are fully operational after an earlier outage, according to the 9-1-1 Communications District.

Residents may once again call 9-1-1 directly for emergencies.

Officials thank the public for their patience during the outage and remind everyone to use 9-1-1 responsibly for emergencies only.

Phone lines to 9-1-1 were reported down statewide Thursday afternoon, according to LCG and the Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The outage, confirmed by the 9-1-1 Communications District, prevented emergency calls from going through the traditional phone system.
