ALLIANCE ‒ Thick plumes of smoke from a downtown fire billowed high into the gray sky on Sept. 25, and were visible for miles.
Alliance police say a 42-year-old man was arrested on charges of arson and criminal trespassing, accused of setting a fire to a building in the 170 block of East Main Street.
The fire, inside an abandoned warehouse, was knocked down by Alliance Fire Department with mutual aid from Sebring Fire Department.
Few other details wetre available.
Thick smoke caught the attention of many, and multiple people photographed or recorded it, sharing the images on Facebook.
Main Street Alliance Inc. and Alliance Historical Society confirmed the warehouse had local historical significance.
The building formerly housed pipe organ manufacturer Hillgreen, Lane and Company, fou
