The Mobile City Council decided Wednesday to table Mayor Sandy Stimpson’s ordinance setting stricter standards for blighted properties downtown until October, saying there are concerns and proposed revisions that need to be addressed in committee.
Earlier in September, Stimpson’s office announced the council’s Tuesday, Sep. 9, agenda will include a proposal to make landlords with vacant properties inside the Henry Aaron Loop register their buildings with the city, pay an annual fee, provide proof of liability insurance worth at least $1 million, set up a fire protection system, install plumbing and more.
