A new study has found toxic metals in Mobile River sediments near the Plant Barry coal ash pond at levels similar to — or above — those seen following the worst coal ash spill disaster in U.S. history.
According to the study produced by University of Alabama and Texas A&M researchers Natasha Dimova, Stephen Andersion and Dini Adyasary, chemicals such as arsenic and cadmium were found at high levels in the sediment in the river around the coal ash pond.
