Why Australia is right to push back on Trump’s giant UN dummy spit

Not since Nikita Khrushchev banged his shoe on the rostrum in fury in 1962 has a world leader made such a spectacle of himself while addressing the United Nations General Assembly as did Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The Soviet leader was at least advocating in the USSR’s interest when he lost his temper. It is not clear what Trump was seeking to achieve.
Much like one of his campaign speeches, Trump’s address was meandering and bellicose. He boasted he was “really good at predicting things” and the United States was the “hottest country anywhere in the world”, while “your countries are going to hell”.
