GRINNELL, Iowa —
Nov. 20, 2012. That's the day an Iowa college basketball player made national headlines for his historic 138 points in a single game.
Grinnell's Jack Taylor shattered the NCAA scoring record with 138 points in a 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible on Nov. 20, 2012. The 5-10 sophomore from Black River Falls, Wisconsin, sank 52 of 108 shots from the field — including 27 3-pointers — plus 7 of 10 free throws.
"It's starting to sink in," Taylor told KCCI reporter Eric Hanson the day after the game in 2012. "What was pretty sobering when I woke up and I saw that Kobe had talked about my game and he’s my favorite player growing up. And that was really cool."
