TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) -- For the foreseeable future, you will not be able to access Solomon Avenue on Tybee Island by car. The 8-part intersection is set to be paved in certain areas and will become walking and bike paths in others.
Tybee Island City Manager Bret Bell says it's an improvement for the island.
"One of our recommendations prior to this even happening was to close off this section of Solomon Avenue and to make it a pedestrian-bicycle corridor," Bell stated. "We've got this beautiful marsh environment over here and then we have a four-acre city property over here that's heavily wooded, one of the last big maritime."
The section of Solomon Avenue that is closed has posed an issue for the city with cars becoming stuck and major potholes developing.
