In the locker room earlier this month, Chase Young had an expressive answer when asked whether his calf injury was a long-term concern.

“Hell no,” the New Orleans Saints pass rusher said.

But Young still hasn’t practiced since then. And as the Saints prepare for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, the 26-year-old pass rusher is on track to miss his fourth straight game. That’s almost a quarter of the season.

What gives?

“Sometimes those are tricky injuries,” coach Kellen Moore said. “Just when you’re dealing with a calf, sometimes you got to see how the thing progresses. He’s doing everything he can. I know it’s his desire to be out there as soon as humanly possible, but you’ve got to understand the medical aspect to this thing is real and you’ve got to do what’s right for him —
