Cornwall council heard Monday that from June 2023-May 2025, the city collected over $5 million in revenue from building permits as the time it takes to process and approve those permits has fallen.

A report with detailed statistics was presented by the city’s new director of development and building services Ryan Windle, and the city’s new chief building official Chris Roelofs, who was officially appointed to the position during the meeting.

“We hope in (this report) that those questions that were asked previously have been answered,” said Roelofs, alluding to when council made a request in June 2024, and again in January 2025, for more detailed information about permit processing times, types and amounts of permits issued, compliance and inspection data, and further details.
