Starbucks will close hundreds of its stores across the U.S., Canada and Europe and will lay off about 900 nonretail employees as part of a restructuring plan, the company announced Thursday.
The Seattle-based coffee company said it expects to have 18,300 locations in North America when its fiscal year ends Sunday, according to a news release . Starbucks had 18,734 North American locations as of June 29, AP reports.
Financial analysts estimate Starbucks will close about 500 North American stores in its fiscal fourth quarter 2025, according to Investing.com .
Employees at Starbucks locations that are scheduled to close will be notified this week, according to the release. The company said it plans to offer employees the option to transfer to a nearby location, or severance packages
