AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - This Saturday marks one year since Hurricane Helene tore through the CSRA, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming multiple lives.

Communities across the region are preparing to honor the victims and reflect on the storm’s lasting impact.

‘Marking the Moment’ through art: Honoring lives lost to Helene

For many, it’s been a year of rebuilding, repairing and trying to move forward. But for some families, time has not healed the loss.

In Augusta, a memorial ceremony will be held for seven residents who died during the hurricane. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Heroes Overlook on the Augusta Riverwalk, where city officials and families will gather to pay tribute.
