BATTLEFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - More than 200 people have already registered for a walk this Saturday to honor loved ones lost to suicide.
Greene County’s third annual American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s “Out of the Darkness Walk” will be at Battlefield City Park.
April Cox is the walk chairperson. She lost her 18-year-old nephew to suicide four years ago. Cox says the walk will be emotional as most of the attendees have been personally affected by suicide. She encourages people to bring a photo of their loved one.
“People like to get together and know that they’re not alone,” said Cox. “There’s camaraderie there; they make connections, and being with people who have been through the same kind of pain is important. And people want to talk, they really do. They want to talk about it.”
