Former Sts'ailes First Nation Chief Ralph Leon is set to be sentenced for public mischief stemming from a 2022 incident.

Leon pleaded guilty to the charge on Sept. 12. He is scheduled to appear on Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m. at Abbotsford Law Courts. Leon was charged with the K file, which is a domestic allegation, back in June 2022. The details of the case are largely undisclosed but the alleged victim is his spouse Annie Silver.

Under the Criminal Code, public mischief falls under section 140, which involves incidents of people misleading law enforcement by false reports of crimes that did not occur. This includes “making a false statement that accuses some other person of having committed an offence” or “reporting that an offence has been committed when it has not been committed.”
