Amery said it's not a coincidence the new directive to defend Alberta gun owners coincides with the launch of the federal government's assault-style gun buy-back program.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has directed her justice minister to use all available legal means to fight what Smith has dubbed the federal government’s “nine bad laws” and defend the rights of Albertans to lawfully own firearms.
Smith’s mandate letter to Justice Minister Mickey Amery tasks him with working under her direction and in co-ordination with the necessary ministries to overturn or overhaul federal government’s legislation, including Bill C-69, the oil and gas emissions cap, the clean electricity regulation, the tanker ban, the industrial carbon tax regulation and the electric vehicle mandate.
