The Crown rested its case Thursday in a Sarnia trial into a $6 million drug bust at the Blue Water Bridge two years ago and the two truck drivers facing charges in the case declined to testify or call any evidence.

Now, it’s on to closing arguments, which are scheduled to start Friday.

The Crown’s final witness, Rene Valade, an RCMP constable and an expert on illegal drugs and drug trafficking, started testifying Wednesday afternoon. He was still on the stand Thursday, when he was cross-examined by Emmanuel Dangyimah’s lawyer, Arooba Shakeel.

Dangyimah and tandem truck driver Reinhard Owusu-Appiah both pleaded not guilty last week to importing and trafficking-related charges linked to cocaine and opium at the start of this two-week trial. Dangyimah was a 32-year-old Etob
