A very young and tiny stray kitten is very lucky a couple of good Samaritan animal lovers happened to be passing through downtown Sturgeon Bay just as the kitten jumped off the Michigan Street Bridge and into the waters of the Sturgeon Bay channel.
And it's hoped the female gray feline soon will have her first forever home.
Stephanie Swain of Sturgeon Bay was driving east across the historic steel bridge Sept. 17 with her 13-year-old daughter, Angelynn Vincent, when she noticed something in the road on the bridge.
"Honestly, I thought it was a squirrel at first," Swain said. "I'm an animal lover, so I slowed way down, and there were cars in the other lane. All of a sudden, it ran across, and I saw it was a kitten."
The undoubtedly extremely frightened kitten dashed back and forth acros
